First Aid Training

All businesses have a responsibility to ensure that they are able to provide adequate and immediate first aid for their employees under the Health & Safety (first aid) Regulations 1981. This includes the self employed.

From the 1st October 2009 first aid in the workplace requirements have changed.

An approved Code of Practice (L74) insists that employers assess first aid needs in their workplace and make adequate and appropriate provision for their work force including staff skills and available equipment.  Determining exactly what is adequate comes down to the specifics of each employer and workplace, carrying out an assessment should identify the risk category of the business and the necessary first aid cover required; click here to download an HSE guide which will help you through the process.

The new requirements also affect our range of training courses which have been designed to accommodate changes and better provide employers with what they need.

Unlike many other training providers, our principal instructor, Jane Gower, has worked for many years within the NHS, coming from a nursing background with experience of medical emergencies.  

When you book a training course through IG Horticulture, you can be sure that your staff are being taught first aid by an instructor who has had "hands on experience". She also holds the nationally recognised City and Guilds PTLLS award (Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector).

Because we have the experience and expertise we are able to tailor your first aid training course to meet your specific needs. Our HSE courses require us to follow a set syllabus, but we ensure that we tailor the course to your work area whenever possible so that you are confident to deal with any situations that you may encounter.

All of our courses can be run in-house at your venue. However, we also offer a selection of courses at various locations around the country.

All of our courses can either be offered to individuals or to groups of people. For group bookings discounts are available. Prices are available on request.

All of our first aid training is delivered by Jane Gower on behalf of Nuco Training an HSE approved training provider, HSE Approval No 29/99.
